About Oldsmobile

Originating from the USA, Oldsmobile has been a top-notch automobile manufacturer. Throughout its long existence dates back to 1897 (even before the First World War), Oldsmobile has produced 35.2 million cars. Although having been phased out in 2004, Oldsmobile's manufacturing process was considered to be incorporated with the most unerring, accurate, precocious, and detailed machinery, enhanced by ingenious and brilliant innovative thinking.

The variety of its production ranged from the powerful, agile, and beastly 1958 Super 88 Holiday Coupe to the elegant and modish 1934 Oldsmobile 8 Convertible Coupe. When its production was halted and the company was closing in on its end, Oldsmobile was considered to be one of the longest-surviving American automobile brands. In 1937, Oldsmobile was avant-garde in executing the production of the four-speed semi-automatic transmission, termed the "Automatic Safety Transmission". The Automatic Safety Transmission that Oldsmobile introduced to the market was assimilated with a clutch pedal which the driver would press before choosing the "high" or "low" range. This was only one of its exceptionally inventive introductions.

The brand's sustainable and resilient marketing strategies not only widened its consumer base but also facilitated its establishment of a strong foothold in the market, which was one of the major causes of its long-lived success. Apart from the USA, Oldsmobile had absorbed the markets of many other countries. For instance, the Oldsmobile Alero evolved as a noteworthy competitor for local manufacturers in Europe. However, it was sold as a Chevrolet with the Oldsmobile logo on the front end, due to the consumers' unfamiliarity with the brand name 'Oldsmobile'.

The American manufacturer functioned along with its sister companies, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac, as subsidiaries of their parent company, General Motors. Although no longer in existence, Oldsmobile has left its mark on the history of automobile manufacturing and made the American automotive industry proud of its precedents.
